Each year, The Spruce Foundation raises money through events, donations small and large, and sponsorships to benefit youth-serving nonprofits in the Philadelphia area with one aim in mind: make Philadelphia an even better place for youth bit-by-bit. As we work to get there, this year we’re releasing our first annual report to take a look at our impact.
With the recent release of this year’s 2021-2022 Impact Report, we’re reflecting on some of the highlights of our efforts this past year.
This Year’s Highlights
Each Giving Tuesday, we celebrate #GivingSpruceDay and put an extra push into our fundraising efforts. This past year, we had a record-breaking Giving Tuesday, with $20,000 raised.
And our impact doesn’t stop there! Throughout all of 2021, we raised more than $67,000 from 183 unique donors, helping us support our yearly $25,000 in grants bestowed to benefit Philadelphia youth. A huge thanks to all of our donors for helping to keep Philly youth brilliant and resilient!
When it comes to our grantees, we received 31 total applications, with the most popular areas falling into Education and Arts. As always, it was a difficult decision! In honor of 15 years of Spruce, we selected an additional fifth grantee for the year, allowing us to support YAP!, Spells Writing Lab, Hand2Paw, Beyond the Bars, and Camp Jamison.
Over the past 15 years, we’ve awarded more than $250,000 to our four program areas. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished so far, but we believe we’re only just getting started.
